Team Leader
Benjamin Lodge
I have worked at Benjamin lodge for 4 years. Previously, I worked in an elderly care setting, caring for people, living with dementia. I stayed at that job for 11 years but had always been interested in a career in mental health. I was given an opportunity to work at Benjamin lodge and have never looked back.
The most rewarding part of my job is, seeing our residents overcoming seemingly small hurdles and watching their confidence and independence grow. It makes me so proud, to know that our staff are all so supportive towards our residents. I also like the fact that no two days are the same and each day, brings new experiences.
We support people with different mental health diagnoses and some people who struggle with addiction. Some days we come across challenges that we have never faced before.
At the time it can be stressful and sometimes it can feel we don’t have the answers. I like to look at these challenges as learning curves, and it really does make us feel more equipped to deal with future challenges.
I would recommend Proudfoot as the company doesn’t just have the clients best interests at heart but the staffs as well.
I think the training held at Head Office is very informative and I like the fact we can discuss actual events, happening in our homes. It helps us be able to support our clients to the best of our abilities.
It’s the first company I have worked for that takes an interest in staff wellbeing.
